It feels tacky posting a blog about this, but here we go.

My Grandma passed away last night.

She was 90 years old. She had nine children, 19 grandchildren, and a bunch of great grandkids as well but I don’t know how many exactly because in a family this big it’s easy to lose track. She was married to my grandpa for over 60 years. She has been ready to go ever since he died two years ago.

Earlier in the day, she had gone to church. It was a memorial mass for my Grandpa.

I believe that she did not want to spend another Christmas without him, and that this was her time to go. She died peacefully in her chair.

It’s hard to lose a loved one, but to lose them to old age after they have lived such a long and full life is a great comfort.

Also. Her spaghetti sauce is the best.

I will only have three W2 forms for my taxes this year. Not bad!

In case you didn’t think many kids in their early 20s are completely unprepared for the adult world, here is some proof.

My mom came to visit around this time last year and I was broke, unemployed, and pretty much directionless. I was living off $20 a week from a four-day temp job, my parents had to pay for my flight home for Christmas, and I had been on about twenty job interviews that never worked out. It was pretty low. I tried to act like life was grand and everything was going just swimmingly but my mom birthed and raised me so she can always tell what’s up.

Now, not only is my mom returning one year later…she is bringing my dad and my sister. I am going to show them the AWESOME office where I work. They are going to see the show I wrote and star in performed at a real LA theatre. And I don’t have to fake for one minute that things are going my way.
